  What OS? What version of LyX? How was the .tex file created?

  What does the log file contain?

Lyx cannot convert LaTeX files

I just installed Lyx but can't get it to import .tex files. I always get 
this error message:


   LyX: Cannot convert file
   An error occurred whilst running tex2lyx -f "*.tex" "*.lyx"

Any ideas?
