It seems it's a problem of keeping the columns independent. If it is possible to say LaTex to use a column as a page, then it'd be easy to tell: In the preamble: \usepackage[italian,british]{babel} In the manuscript: \chapter{Introduzione} \selectlanguage{italian} \subsection*{subsect} bla
