Small query on windows shortcuts

2014-03-25 Thread Pavel Sanda
Dear Windows LyX users,

while trying to figure out some error reports, can you please give us feedback
whether Ctrl+Alt shortcuts do work with your setup?
You can you use e.g. Ctrl+Alt+1 to setup bookmark and try to navigate from
other part of your document.

We need that your reply contains:
- shortcut works or no
- windows version
- lyx version
- keyboard layout used (non-US layouts are of particular interest)

Thanks,
Pavel

Case I:
Bookmark shortcuts do not work
Windows 7
LyX 2.1.0dev
Keyboard Layout: US (International)

In this case, Ctrl+Alt+5 gives Euro sign (according to the print on the
keyboard).

Case II:
Bookmark shortcuts do work
Windows 7
LyX 2.1.0dev
Keyboard Layout: US

Case III:
Bookmark shortcuts do not work
Windows 7
LyX 2.1.0dev
Keyboard Layout: Dutch
In this case, Ctrl+Alt+5 gives 1/2 character (this is not the correct
keyboard layout)

Meanwhile we found the problem. LyX uses the framework Qt for its Windows,
Dialogs etc.:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Qt_%28software%29
The latest versions of Qt have a bug that destroys some shortcuts on Windows. For example alt+m (
in math does not work and AltGr+7 on German keyboards does not give a { character.

Unfortunately the latest Windows LyX installer from came with the buggy Qt
libraries.

So if shortcuts like alt+m ( in math do not work for you on Windows _AND_ if you installed LyX
after March 8, 2014, then please reinstall using the fixed LyX for Windows installer:

https://sourceforge.net/projects/lyxwininstaller/files/LyXWinInstaller/2.0.7/LyX-207-Installer-4.exe/download

I will make an announcement tomorrow when the new installer is available on
www.lyx.org.

sorry for the inconvenience and regards
Uwe
