2 questions: table import and Figure organization
I had a swell time using Lyx to work on this document in RedHat linux with Lyx 1.1.6fix4: http://lark.cc.ukans.edu/~pauljohn/ResearchPapers/activists.pdf 2 problems came up I was not able to solve. My coauthor used a text editor to prepare some tabulars in LaTeX (I think he used WinEdt). The tabulars were OK on his end, but when I used reLyx to import the file, they got "bashed" by 1 column for each row. Where it should have been: a b c d e f g h i j k l m o p it came out a b c d e f g h i j k l m n o p Have you seen it? The other question concerns giant monstrous figures. Hi! A few days ago I had some trouble importing tables from Excel to LyX. Thanks to the help from the list, I sovled my problem. Exporting to ascii from Excel and importing as ascii\lines is a simple, fast and powerful way the get the tables into the document. So I got my numerous tables imported. Now I tried to let the text flow around the smaller ones. Unfortunately, even the manual--author says, that he didn't made it work. Has someone done this so far? Regards, Chris

Table-Import
Hi! I have quite a lot of MS-Excel (sorry!) tables to import into my LyX--Document. There is a litle macro excel2latex which saves the current selction to a .tex--file. But LyX 1.1.5f2 (SuSE7 on Intel) or maybe the laTeX has some problmes with that files. Because reLyX has some problems with tables (as noted in the man-pages), I have to \input the .tex--files. But in most cases, I get 75+ errors during the latex--run. What can I do, besides hacking all the tables once again into the document? I think, the tex.--files from excel2latex are pretty fine. Unfortunately I can't get reLyX to produce .lyx--files from my tables. That would be the best way, because I could modify the tables in LyX then. Is there a solution? Best wishes, Chris

Your ascii-file should be a tab-separated-value file (this means have a tab between cells and CR between rows). Then you just have to create a table which is as large as the file you want to input.
