Trouble with index in 1.4.1 and memoir classs

Hi, Has anyone noticed that when using memoir class in 1.4.1 (I understood from a colleague it was allright in 1.4.0) inserting an index gives latex errors (see part of the log below)? I am running 1.4.1 on a stock slackware 10.2 system with tetex 3.0. Reproducing the error is simple:
