Dear All,
When I insert a vertical space in the beginning of a page, such a
vertical space does not appear in the pdflatex output. (Please, see
the attached file.) Any ideas? I am using
$ rpm -q lyx
lyx-1.5.6-2.fc9.i386
$
on Fedora 9 (Linux).

That's what the protect button is for. This is the difference between
\vspace and \vspace* in
