bad characters in labels?

I used a label "t=bda" in an equation, but it produced (??) instead of the
equation number in the output. I guess Latex doesn't accept the
"=" character in labels. Shouldn't LyX check that the label's doesn't have
illegal characters?

Yes... if you use _ I think you also get an error...

Yes... if you use _ I think you also get an error...
