float algorithm

2015-12-20 Thread Sajjad
Hello forum,

I am trying to insert float algorithm into the report I am writing. I did
the following:

1. Insert->Float->Algorithm
2. Inside Algorithm I inserted program listing
3. Wrote down the procedure.

When I generate the pdf , the algorithm is over-lapping the page number .
Is it possible to break the algorithm automatically once it cannot be fit
into one page and continue to the next page ? The issue can be seen in the
following link :

http://i.imgur.com/P02CjO8.png

As you can see page number 47 in the middle of the algorithm.

Any idea to get rid of this issue ?

Thanks

Re: float algorithm

2015-12-20 Thread Sajjad
Hello forum,

I think I found kind of a solution to the issue. Instead of having program
listing inside floating algorithm , I am having just the program listing
and now the code snippets are split automatically.

But I am encountering another issue. How do I enter some kind of caption to
the program listing I have just added, so that it gets listed into the list
of algorithms at the beginning of the report.

A better suggestion is expected than the one described.

Thanks

Insert-Float-Algorithm is missing!

2014-09-08 Thread Китов Виктор
Hello all,I have two versions of Lyx simultaneously: Lyx 2.0.4 and Lyx 2.1.1 under Windows 7.Neigher of them has menu option to insert an algorithm - if I go to Insert-Float there is no option to insert an algorithm! Please tell what to do, because visualising algorithms is a very convenient feature. Best wishes,Victor.

Probably updating memoir will suffice. You can grab the most recent version
from CTAN [1], unpack the files by running latex memoir.ins and latex
mempatch.ins and then put them in you TEXMF home directory (usually
~/texmf/tex/latex/memoir). Run texhash afterwards to update the filename
database.

For Fedora 17, there is the texlive-2012 repository that has all the
available packages:

If you follow the instructions there you can update the packages to

I am using the most recent packages (lyx, latex, ...) distributed with
Fedora-17-updates:

 *File List*
  memoir.cls2005/09/25 v1.618 configurable document class
   mem10.clo2002/07/27 v0.2 memoir class 10pt size option
mempatch.sty2007/01/22 v4.8 Patches for memoir class v1.618
 fontenc.sty
   t1enc.def2005/09/27 v1.99g Standard LaTeX file
inputenc.sty2006/05/05 v1.1b Input encoding file
  latin9.def2006/05/05 v1.1b Input encoding file
   float.sty2001/11/08 v1.3d Float enhancements (AL)
  amsthm.sty2004/08/06 v2.20
 amsmath.sty2000/07/18 v2.13 AMS math features
 amstext.sty2000/06/29 v2.01
  amsgen.sty1999/11/30 v2.0
  amsbsy.sty1999/11/29 v1.2d
  amsopn.sty1999/12/14 v2.01 operator names
which seem to be *really* outdated, compared to the package-versions you list.

Does this mean I manually have to update my latex installation? Is there any
way you can recommend, without re-compiling my whole software-stack?
The whole situation is a bit sad, as I am sitting behind a ~100kBit/s GPRS line
:/

Thx, Reggi

Probably updating memoir will suffice. You can grab the most recent version
from CTAN [1], unpack the files by running "latex memoir.ins" and "latex
mempatch.ins" and then put them in you TEXMF home directory (usually
~/texmf/tex/latex/memoir). Run "texhash" afterwards to update the filename
database.

Ugh. Well, if you have a laptop and can take it somewhere with better
speed, you might want to try using the updated TeXLive repository, as
described here:

http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Features/TeXLive
It takes a while to download it the first time, but then you should be OK.

For Fedora 17, there is the texlive-2012 repository that has all the
available packages:

http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Features/TeXLive (search for the
instructions regarding Fedora 17)

If you follow the instructions there you can update the packages to
newer versions.

This repository was put in place by Fedora texlive maintainer and the
repository is a backport.

For Fedora 18 (to be released in January) and newer the packages there
are the default.

Hi,

Updating memoir helped, it works now like a charme. Thanks a lot!
I wonder however, how can Fedora distribute packages *that* old.

Thx, Regi

Glad to know there are updated packages for F17 available, too.
Thanks for letting me know and for helping me with the memoir issue.

Indentation in float algorithm environment.

2004-06-04 Thread Alex Yuan
Dear All,

I have a question on indentation in the float
algorithm environment. I noticed that the typesetting
of algorithm in LyX does not include indentation and I
could not insert 'Tab' into my typed algorithm.

However, the 'algorithm' package for LaTeX does
automatically indent for you when you use flow-control
structures. Does the algorithm environment in LyX has
any relation with 'algorithm' package for LaTeX?

Currently, the only indentation I can do is to
manually type multiple Ctl-Space to make my algorithm
looks better. But this is inefficient and ugly.

Can anyone shed some light on this?

Thx in advance!

Regards,
Yufei

To use the \STATE, \IF etc. commands, you need to put \usepackage{algorithmic}
in the preamble.

Another option (as mentioned by Herbert) is to use the layout file in
http://www.educat.hu-berlin.de/~voss/lyx/algorithm/algo-0.3.tar.gz
