Hi list,
I faced

//You need to provide a definition with \DeclareInputText or
\DeclareInputMath before using this key.

///I found and tried quite a number of suggestions as to how that
problem could be resolved - but none worked in my case.

Eventually I found the answer to my problem: see screenshot.

Hope this might be of help to other fellow sufferers.

biblatex, inputenc error

2009-05-19 Thread Mario Paul
Hi,

on an Ubuntu Linux 9.04 with Lyx 1.62 using document class koma-script
article and biblatex I have the following problem:

- everything works fine as long as I _dont_ insert the \printbibliography
command.

- when I insert \printbibliography in lyx via ERT I get an (well known)
inputenc error: Keyboard character used is undefined

- I checked my .bib-file (that is generated with synapsen) for any unusual
characters, like a long -. I cant find any and I dont have any clue why that
problem occurs.

I would be very glad, if someone helps me.

Thanks in advance
Mario

Look the Latex log. It will I guess tell you which entry in your bib file is
problematic. I had problems with quote character when you cutpaste between
the Web and your bibliographical manager.

inputenc is part of every LateX system. The problem is that BibTeX cannot
handle UTF characters. The error you get often appears for example when a
reference has a long - between page numbers. When you haven't used
BibTeX, I need a _small_ LyX example file to check.

Thanks, Uwe.

I am attaching the offending reference, which I entered by using JabRef (that

What is the difference between a long - between page numbers vs --?

It would be helpful if somebody could also check whether this reference works
in lyx by inserting it via JabRef. I noticed if I try to re-write it in
JabRef, it is automatically completed (e.g. the name, the journal). It looks
to me as JabRef has some internal way of remembering this reference. I got
the reference from the medline internet databank.

Would it help to use biblatex in this kind of errors?

Package inputenc Error on imported Latex File

2008-04-25 Thread Jeff Sese

Hi,

I'm evaluating LyX and a beginner at LaTex. I have a LaTex file that
I imported in LyX and tried to output a pdf from it but I'm getting a
Package inputenc Error.

This is the error in the LaTeX log:

! Package inputenc Error: Keyboard character used is undefined
(inputenc)in inputencoding `latin9'.

See the inputenc package documentation for explanation.
Type H return for immediate help.
 ...

You need to provide a definition with \DeclareInputText

From my imported file, I can't find any command specifiying an

causing this error?

familiar with LyX (even looking to the doc) I do not find always the state

Anyway, please find a sample document in Book class.

Thanks for taking some of your time. I "solved the problem" by masking it
moving from "Book AMS" to "Book" class. But of course I had to change some
points inside the document. also, due to the fact I am not yet enough
familiar with LyX (even looking to the doc) I do not find always the "state
of the art " solution.
Anyway, please find a sample document in "Book" class.

Best regards

Just to add some information: the problem is coming because I selected the
class of document: Book AMS and LaTex was not, apparently, able to
interprate the headings as text : N° 1 b, (p.6).

Book AMS was selected because chapter and section format are centered and
not on the left side like in Book.
I read most of the doc. but I did not find the way to modify the settings of
chapter and others. Is it possible ?

Thanks in advance

Paul

I am probably making a mistake which I don't understand:

In a document I input the following:
 part*
 section*
 tex\setcounter{footnote}{0}
T X T with some footnotes and index inputs
 New page
section* with the following title N°1 b, (p.6).

Then when I try to display with PDF_(pdflatex), I got the following error
 window
 --
 upper part:
Package inputenc Error: keyboard character is undefined

 lower part:
You need to provide a definition with \DeclareInputText or
 \DeclareInputMath before using this key

 -

If I remove the section* after New page then there is no problem

 Any Clue!

 Thanks

Just to add some information: the problem is coming because I selected the
class of document: "Book AMS" and LaTex was not, apparently, able to
interprate the headings as text : "N° 1 b, (p.6)."

"Book AMS" was selected because chapter and section format are centered and
not on the left side like in Book.
I read most of the doc. but I did not find the way to modify the settings of
chapter and others. Is it possible ?

Thanks in advance

Paul

Package inputenc Error

2006-08-25 Thread Paul Schwartz
LyX 1.4.1
I am probably making a mistake which I don't understand:

In a document I input the following:
part*
section*
tex\setcounter{footnote}{0}
T X T with some footnotes and index inputs
New page
section* with the following title N°1 b, (p.6).

Then when I try to display with PDF_(pdflatex), I got the following error
window
--
upper part:
Package inputenc Error: keyboard character is undefined

lower part:
You need to provide a definition with \DeclareInputText or \DeclareInputMath
before using this key

-

If I remove the section* after New page then there is no problem

Any Clue!

Thanks

Paul
