multiple authors for IEEEtran.cls

I am trying to make multiple authors in a .lyx paper with the IEEEtran
class with no success. The \and does not seem to work. 

Here's a small example file that works with other document layouts

Okay, I got it. FWIW, I think it's getting late and that I didn't have
the correct layout. Anyhow, I just put 
\authorblockN{myriam abramson\\yadayada} \and 
\authorblockN{some other author\\yadayada} 
that works now.
