from Xfig as a ps/latex combined file and included it in my document by
"Insert - Include File - ...
I can't seem to find out how to get this figure in a "list of figures"
as it is an "included file" and not an "*.eps"file.

you have to do first
"Insert" - "Floats" - "Figure Float"
and then type a caption to get the figure in the LoF
