Re: serious bug in 1.1.4fix1?

2000-03-06 Thread Richard A. Bilonick

Jean-Marc,

I can't reproduce the problem because it was so serious I had to
uninstall 1.1.4fix and reinstall an earlier version (1.0.1 or 1.0.3 - I
don't remember but not 1.1.4 - thought the 1.1.4fix would fix these
problems but it didn't). The problem seemed to occur after a series of
file includes and continued for the next 10 pages until the end of the
document. I tried to fix various things (like the loss of Times font, the
missing space after each comma) but I could NOT fix the larger margins.
It seemed to have forgotten that the margins were supposed to be 1in. The
other thing is that the document had been previously created using the
earlier version of LyX. It must not happen with newly created docs.

I had to go back to 1.0.1. The 1.1.4fix1 patch did not resolve all the
problems with 1.1.4. I had a 28 page document that was formatted
correctly under 1.0.1. In 1.1.4, it looked fine in LyX but would not
create a correct Postscript file. Ghostview showed that the fonts and
margins were badly screwed up for the last 10-15 pages. In 1.0.1 in
prints perfectly. In my opinion, 1.1.4 with or without the patch is not
useable.

Hi,
I think this problem could appear with no X11-thread-safe libraries.
I had this problem with others programs too. My system is based on
libc5, and the solution was to install a X11-libc5-threadsafe package.
Despite RH 6.0 is glibc, it has some problems with pthread libraries ( I
am not an expert, but I had read something on that).

I hope this help you.

This might be due to ghostscript 6.0, if there have been changes in

Hi,
I think this problem could appear with no X11-thread-safe libraries.
I had this problem with others programs too. My system is based on
libc5, and the solution was to install a X11-libc5-threadsafe package.
Despite RH 6.0 is glibc, it has some problems with pthread libraries ( I
am not an expert, but I had read something on that).

I hope this help you.
