Thanks, this reveals that preview generation breaks with an error. The
reason I don't get this is that it has been fixed in the development
version of 2.3.x already:

This is the header line, since you have set Document > Settings > Page
Layout > Fancy

New test: Pic A cannot be previewed, Pic A' can be previewed
In Pic A' the option
domain=-2:6
has been added to just one of the two plots.

Documents > Settings > Fonts
Check the “Use non-TeX fonts (via XeTeX or LuaTeX)” box.
