Fwd: Lyx and Git under Windows XP - follow up
Thanks for your help. I have tested Git after having read on the list some message about its compatibility with LyX. I have maybe misunderstood what I was reading. Unfortunately, I am not able to find again this message (maybe it was from Abdelrazak Younès?). Murat 2009/3/16 Pavel Sanda sa...@lyx.org: Manveru wrote: Is that a moment for new a feature request? Git popularity is growing VERY FAST! there are unfortunately some things making git support harder in our framework, most notably comit/push distinction and no local dirs like .svn etc, so you are dependent either on external git status call or some non trivial parsing/crawling through dir tree. feel free to subscribe to http://bugzilla.lyx.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2574 for staying informed :) pavel -- *** NEW UNIVERSITY, NEW ADDRESS ! *** Prof. Murat Yildizoglu Université Paul Cézanne (Aix-Marseille 3) GREQAM (UMR CNRS 6579) Centre de la Vieille Charité 2, rue de la Charité 13236 Marseille cedex 02 Bureau 320 Tel : +33 4 91 14 07 27 (standard) Tel : +33 4 91 14 07 70 (secrétariat) Tel : +33 4 91 14 07 47 (bureau) Fax : +33 4 91 90 02 27 e-mail: murat.yildizo...@univ-cezanne.fr www : http://www.vcharite.univ-mrs.fr/PP/yildi/index.html http://www.twitter.com/yildizoglu __

If it was me, this was on the devel list and about our source code versionning tool (I advocated switching to git from svn). Coming back to svn support (or git for that matter), I don't see much benefit to current svn integration. Better to go to the command-line or to some graphical frontend (kdesvn for kde and ToitoiseSvn for Windows are quite good). I use Qtcreator for C++ develoment for example but I don't use its support for git and svn, qgit and kdesvn offer a much better experience. Things would start to be interesting when/if LyX is able to create a git repo per document and is also able to manage all child documents and referenced grapĥics :-) Abdel.

Thanks for this clarification. I have probably misunderstood your post... Anyway, it has given me the occasion of playing with Git and I am quite sold. I do not mind to work with it from outside, through the command-line. I will probably write some PowerPro scripts to automatize things for me. If I ever do, I would be happy to share them with the list. Murat 2009/3/16 Abdelrazak Younes you...@lyx.org: Murat Yildizoglu wrote: Thanks for your help.
