These are autosave files. They are created if you have "Backup documents
every ... minutes" enabled under Tools> Preferences> Document Handling.
If you save yourself within whatever period you specified, then they are
not created. They are deleted when the document is (successfully) closed.
Do you know how can I tell Lyx where to store them?
They are always created in the document directory. There is (at present)
no way to change this (except by modifying the source code, of course).
