Re: classicthesis-Lyx-v4.2_biblatex_biber

2017-07-30 Thread Michael Berger

Hi Jürgen, hi Philip,

in openSUSE Leap 42.2 I've tried countless times to produce PDF outputs
with both, classicthesis-Lyx-v4.2_biblatex-biber and
classicthesis-Lyx-v4.2_biblatex-bibtex8 but always ended up in endless
loops.

After two weeks I tried openSUSE Leap 42.2 once more last night (out of
desperation and frustration) and to my surprise both, biblatex-biber and
biblatex-bibtex8, generated perfect PDF outputs - and very quickly.

In Documents > Settings > Bibliography > Bibliography Generation >
Processor it offers

 * Default
 * biber !
 * bibtex
 * bibtex8

while in Mageia6 'biber' is still missing.
So, looks like one must wait till "biber" is made available in Mageia6
and working.

Thanks a lot for your continuous support, and cheers!

Michael

Obviously, you need to install biber, then reconfigure LyX and

Funny enough, classicthesis-LyX-v4.2_biblatex_bibtex8 outputs a

That's not funny, it is expected, if bibtex8 is installed.

For ubuntu/debian the package-name is 'biber'.
You may find something appropriate on your system.

Unless the first line you see there is something like

you don't have biber installed, or the installation is corrupt.

What happens when you type

Have you checked two simple examples from

Do they work? Do you have biber installed? All three engines (bibtex,
bibtex8, biber) work for me on linux, people had some issues with
biber on other OS.

Philipp,
I checked the http://wiki.lyx.org/BibTeX/Biblatex examples, both work.
So biber should work.
But classicthesis-LyX-v4.2_biblatex_biber does not produce the
References in the pdf output (the page stays empty) and gives no error
message for it (there is an error "unknown float option 'H' -ignored, p
used - which is unimportant for me).
The classicthesis-LyX-v4.2_biblatex_bibtex example works and produces
the References in the output.
Could you or somebody else kindly check whether

Have you checked two simple examples from
http://wiki.lyx.org/BibTeX/Biblatex

Do they work? Do you have biber installed? All three engines (bibtex,
bibtex8, biber) work for me on linux, people had some issues with
biber on other OS.

Philipp,
I checked the http://wiki.lyx.org/BibTeX/Biblatex examples, both work.
So biber should work.
But classicthesis-LyX-v4.2_biblatex_biber does not produce the
References in the pdf output (the page stays empty) and gives no error
message for it (there is an error "unknown float option 'H' -ignored, p
used - which is unimportant for me).
The classicthesis-LyX-v4.2_biblatex_bibtex example works and produces
the References in the output.
Could you or somebody else kindly check whether
classicthesis-LyX-v4.2_biblatex_biber works?

Wolfgang

AFAIK version 4.2 also depends on some latest coma-packages that are

Classicthesis 4.1 works well with me and cooperates flawlessly with

I will switch to version 4.2 when my distro is ready and prepared for it.

Thanks Michael,
but the 4.2 version seems to work at least as biblatex_bibtex8.
biblatex_biber does not show the references in the pdf output, but
perhaps somebody can point me to the cause of it.

I was going to give a talk on ClassicThesis at the Tuebix meeting on the

soon starting, I am glad I could get it working now with the help of
this excellent list.

2-classicthesis-LyX-v4.2_biblatex_bibtex8/ (tested and worked with

3-classicthesis-LyX-v4.1_bugfix/
Note that this is the same template set up in three different ways -
you will be using only one of the folders.

Under Kubuntu (14. ) and using Lyx2.2.0 (of 23.5.2016)
I get the following errors:

Could it be a texlive issue?

Thanks for the suggestions. It is working now, however, there are two
minor issues:

1-

Package biblatex Info: Trying to load language 'ngerman'...

Package biblatex Info: ... file 'ngerman.lbx' found.

(/usr/share/texlive/texmf-dist/tex/latex/biblatex/lbx/ngerman.lbx

File: ngerman.lbx 2014/06/25 v2.9a biblatex localization (PK/JW/AB)

Package biblatex Info: Trying to load language 'german'...

Package biblatex Info: ... file 'german.lbx' found.

(/usr/share/texlive/texmf-dist/tex/latex/biblatex/lbx/german.lbx

File: german.lbx 2014/06/25 v2.9a biblatex localization (PK/JW/AB)

Package biblatex Warning: No hyphenation patterns for 'german' on input
line 47 1.

This I do not understand. Classicthesis language is set in English, why
is ngerman demanded? If I do need it, how do I load it?

2- with biblatex_biber I do not get the bibliography in the pdf printout.
What has to be done

Thanks again
Wolfgang

Try the "two simple examples" from http://wiki.lyx.org/BibTeX/Biblatex
to check whether biber or bibtex8 work for you.
LyX 2.2 will ease the use of biblatex, you might want to give it a try.
Let us know.

I managed to get the chapter number of the subfile alright, apparently
the program does it (after saving?).
I might have more questions, especially re references (biblatex), since
they do not show up in the pdf output. But will first fiddle around

It's not even a footnote, in a sense that the text points to it. If you

If you want to change it to something else, you'll have to change
