I would suggest that you try to create a document using defaults, and then you should be able to change the encoding. Are you sure it is a problem in the formula, not the surrounding text? You can try to find the "offending" character looking at View>Source (check the whole document box): you should find the problematic char highlighted. Günter

If you could find out which character/symbol in your document causes this, we could try and implement support in LyX. (or just send me the document in private, if this is OK with you). Jürgen
