  Here, the pdf view makes no difference because the file is the same.
Differences in splitting might be an artifact of the TeX/LaTeX installation.
I am running texlive-2017.171108. Shrug.

  Yes, it works. Left the final 'e' on the third line. Ugly, but it does do
the job.

  Not worth anyone's time, but it would be interesting to learn why this URL
address did not break properly without that string listing each alphabetic
character in both lower and upper case.
