Well, that may be so, but not necessarily by design.

Document > Settings... > Format > Synchronize with Output
Tick on and use Custom Macro: \synctex=1

I changed

LyX > Preferences > Output > General > PDF command to

/Applications/Skim.app/Contents/SharedSupport/displayline $$n $$o $$t

and that works very well, even in Beamer.

Do you also have forward and reverse search working?

Having changed the default for all PDF files on the Mac to be opened
with Skip instead of Preview (Command I) many years ago this has worked
for me without any issues and without any changes to the preferences.

Hello Scott,

sorry for answering late.
I still use LyX 2.2.3 and it works fine for me to use Skim 1.4.29 as
file-viewer, nonetheless one or two commands »Skim.app« in the command-line. I
think it works, because I just changed the general habit for my mac, so that
every PDF now is opened with Skim. Not a very consequent solution, though, but
it works for me…

Best
Jess

• In Lyx LyX Version 2.2.3 I have entered the following:

Prefs / Output / General / PDF-Command:
/Applications/Skim.app/Skim.app/Contents/SharedSupport/displayline $$n

At least one problem is that there seems to be a "Skim.app" too many in

On macos syncing with skim and lyx2.3.0dev works with these settings:

Note that you need to Shift-Command-click.

Hi Jess,

Did you get this figured out? There is a user that says they got it
working in 2.2.3, but not in 2.3.0rc1:
