Is it possible?

Thanks

Yes I've used impressive. I don't think it meets my requirements for
presenting from home: the screen to present and the screen with the
notes are in 2 different X windows, so I can share one of them.

Re: beamer dual

2021-03-03 Thread Patrick Dupre
Hello,

OK

Ideally, by default (pympress), I would I have the current slide on the left
the next slide on the top right, and "annotations" in the bottom right.
I would like to have the notes go in the annotation pad.
If I set: \setbeameroption{show notes}
the notes come into "next slide" (and lost of course the next slide)
I tried several combinations of setting, but I never got the right one.

Any idea?

Thanks.

I'm afraid that the problem was with "\spanishdecimal{.}". I have just put the
option "es-nodecimaldot" at document class, removing preamble lines and tags
not appear.

Why do you load babel and Spanish explicitly in the preamble? Just selecting
Spanish as document language in LyX should suffice.
Anyways, this looks like a bug in babel-spanish. As I don't get it here, I
suppose you need to update the babel-spanish package.

I'm sorry, but I don't know where log archive is located and the compiled

Spanish to English. Then I have errors in the preamble, so I comment preamble
lines

%\selectspanish

And now I get no tags!! output pdf document is OK!!

I think I have searched the messages and have not found the solution.
For a few months, the change of document type from Beamer to beamer article
generates labels with the order of the animations, how can they be eliminated?
I attach an example with the lyx file and the pdf outputs of the article and

This works without problems for me (attached my output with the missing

This is with beamerarticle 2021/02/09 v3.61

Hi Murat,

Thanks for that example! Are those separate equations (from LyX's
perspective) or is it a multi-line construct? I think they are separate,
which makes sense and gives some flexibility. But it might be difficult
to align things. But perhaps I should not be so picky :)

Attached is an example and with manual \onslide it can be made to work.
I'm not sure if this approach generalizes for other cases, but I think
it will work for me.

Thanks for your help!

Because they correspond to different roles:

Custom inset > Beamer Note => LaTeX: \note{...}

"Note item" layout => LaTeX: \note[item]{...}

That corresponds to two different usages, and after using both I like the

Is the logo PNG file in the same directory as the LyX file? If
not, have you tried specifying the path to it?

If by any chance you kept the original Mac version (did not overwrite it
with the version saved on Windows), you could diff the two LyX files to
find the offending character.

Other than having a different idea about what an end-of-line character
should be, I don't recall Windows mucking up characters on its own. If
you paste in something copied from, say, a PDF (where there are
ligatures) or maybe type something like an accented letter while
editing, maybe that could be the source of the problem?

recognized and as the filename is "uct_logo.png", at compilation time
it says the file is not found and then a box with "uct_logo" appears,
with the "l" in "logo" as a subscript.

Is this problem a Windows or a Lyx related one? BTW, I am using
TeXLive 2019 on this windows computer.

Regards,

Is the logo PNG file in the same directory as the LyX file? If not, have
you tried specifying the path to it?

Re: Beamer presentation PDF resolution [RESOLVED]

2020-06-19 Thread Dr Eberhard Lisse
Thank you also very much for this RTFM!!!

After 10 years of being irritated that the Beamer presentations of mine
leave a black frame in full screen, I now finally found that
aspectratio=1610 removes it.

Tested it with Skim, Acrobat and Preview (and on Zoom) and looks great.
Need to look at it with a beamer, but nowadays we do our CPD with Zoom
so I don't have (need) ready access to a beamer anymore.

On my iPad Mini 5 with sidecar the standard (43?) looks best so I will
need to try different ratios on the beamer when we go back to F2F.
Fortunately with Makefile or a for loop it's rather easy to produce a
PDF in each supported aspect ration and then try every one on the
beamer and use the one that looks best.

This is great stuff!

greetings, el

Rich,

glad to know it worked. I've found it a while ago as a stackexchange
question (here:
https://tex.stackexchange.com/questions/14336/latex-beamer-presentation-package-169-aspect-ratio

Giovanni,

That explains it.

I'm moving my business marketing/prospecting to use video tutorials on a
YouTube business channel so I need to upload them as 1920x1080 or 1280x720
resolution files.

The beamer output is now in 16:9 aspect ratio, and the softwar I use to
display the PDF for the recorded video tutorials ('impressive') is scaled to
open in a 860x540 dpi window, half the final resolution. I use ffmpeg to
scale it up and it all works fine.

Thanks for adding to my LyX/LaTeX/Beamer knowledge,

I must have mis-typed something the first time I tried it as a class option

I searched the Beamer manual (in LyX) for 'aspectratio' and it found

I found the tool, now I need to learn the proper command line. Turns out

Hmm-m-m. I remembered your suggestion a few years ago for the shortcut as

structure (stripped of presentation-specific content) as a default
template

for all my future beamer documents?

Comment:

A just-completed presentation has 6 images in it. The first two share
their
frames with text so I used columns and two individual columns per
frame with

the image on the left and the text on the right. This worked just fine.

But, the next 4 images are large and each occupies an entire frame by
itself. I inserted the first one, tweaked the size and position, and used
alt-p/shift-enter to create a new frame environment. But, nothing
happened;

no new frame. I looked in the beamer manual but the word 'image' appears
only once and in reference to using overlays.

After much futzing I discovered a solution. When I defined a new frame
environment I inserted an itemize environment, then immediately created a
new, following frame. With the latter patiently waiting I inserted the
image

in the first new frame, set its size and position, then moved to the next
frame that was created before inserting the image.

I hesitate to call this a bug because I don't know if there's a way I've
missed to insert only an image in a frame then create a new frame
after that

other than what I did.

Rich

I've used several themes in presentations because I tire of one, and I want

You can work around it by setting the overlay specification on the first

So the blue line are change tracking marks. Uncheck the above setting
and do Document > Change Tracking > Accept All Changes.

If you actually _want_ to track changes, then you will have to accept
the blue line.

This worked:

\usepackage{enumitem}
\setlistdepth{9}

\setlist[itemize,1]{label=\textbullet}
\setlist[itemize,2]{label=\textbullet}
\setlist[itemize,3]{label=\textbullet}
\setlist[itemize,4]{label=\textbullet}

\setlist[itemize,7]{label=\textbullet}

\setlist[itemize,9]{label=\textbullet}

\renewlist{itemize}{itemize}{9}

You may try the "enumitem" module and customize the lists, but it is
possible that this will not help because of a clash with the beamer list
redefinitions.

Then, changing your lists to not use so many levels or using simple
paragraphs on excessively nested parts is the only way out that I know of.

You are on a Mac, right? This is a bug that has already been fixed for
the next version. It is caused by the shortcut insets used in the
beamer manual.

A quick workaround:
switch to utf8 encoding and add this to the preamble:

Some characters of your document are probably not representable in the chosen
encoding.
Changing the document encoding to utf8 could help.

I went to Document -> Settings -> Language and changed Encoding from Language
Default to Other -> Unicode (utf8) and then this happened:

Package inputenc Error: Unicode char ⌃ (U+2303)
Package inputenc Error: Unicode char ⌃ (U+2303)

\end{frame}
Your command was ignored.
Type Ito replace it with another command,
orto continue without it.

When I clicked Show Output Anyway I got a nice PDF but I don’t know if it has
errors.

The beamer-article.lyx also failed to render for similar reasons but first was
this error:

Included file `[examples/beamer.lyx]'
has textclass `beamer'
while parent file has textclass `article-beamer’.

I can’t figure out a workaround here. I haven’t put much effort into trying to
fix this but it seems like the manuals and examples should render without
problems.

Mac OS 10.11.6
LyX 2.3.2

FWIW, it compiles fine for me (pdflatex), both with language set to
default and with it set to UTF8. This is on Linux Mint, LyX 2.3.2.

It does after I made a slight correction. Notice that in your file the
overlays are actually outside the overlayarea. You can see it clearly if
you export to LaTeX.

I you then include the onlyenvs inside the overlayarea (see attached), then
the result conforms what I was expecting. The difference between the two
cases is that in the first case, the baseline of the permanent text is
moved upwards as more lines are added to the frame, whereas in the second
case (all onlyenvs inside the overlayarea) the baseline is fixed. This is
what I wanted.

Thanks for the tip. I did not try with overlayarea because I was not sure
about the overlay height. But it seems that setting a total height of 0cm
does the trick.

In the attached file, there is a single frame.  The first line appears

environment.  The second line should appear only on the second slide,
the third line on the third and fourth slides and it should replace
the second line. There is also a fourth line that is overprinted on
the third and fourth lines.

However, the second line does not appear on the PDF, only the
remaining subframes.  My use of a nested overprint inside a parent

I think the use of multiple overprint environments is part of the
problem, but I also think the use of overprint is incompatible with
having some text on slide 3 onward and some on just slide 3. The Beamer
manual says this in the description of overprint environments:

The overlay specifications of the \onslide commands must be disjoint.
Yours are not disjoint. The attached version uses overlayarea rather
than overprint. See if it does what you want.

deleting the last slide and recreating it will fix the problem (?).

Paul,

  I described how I fixed this in my last post to the speaker's note thread.

  Adding a new frame above the problem one, moving the frame title to it,
inserting the same plot, and deleting the problem frame resolved the issue.
By adding a new frame the end frame line was included so I could delete the
frame that lacked the indicator.

  Also, a fact that I forgot, was that some images do not display in the
dvips view but do display when complied by pdflatex. All's well here.

Thanks,

Rich
