I stumbled on your 2009 message in my mailbox today and noticed that, 
although the problem was correctly diagnosed at the time, nothing 
happened. Assuming you still use LyX, you will be glad to hear that the 
bug is now fixed in trunk for spanish and galician.

You must set the document language to Spanish, in Document->Settings.

To get the Spanish by default go to Tools->Preferences->Language
setting and then Tools->Reconfigure and restart

 Spanish -
En el menú Documento->Configuración->Idioma debes poner Español, pero
para poner el español como predeterminado en todos los documentos nuevos:

  
Herramientas->Preferencias->Configuración_idioma->Idioma->Idioma_predetrminado.
Después vuelve a Herramientas->Reconfigurar y reinicia LyX

Oh! Now I realize that!
I think they are the strings "(\\alph{enumii})" and so.
Now I can adapt the translated strings to the appropriate default
spanish pdf-output.

The babel-spanish package is the key. See the footnotes 3 and 4 in
sec. 3.3.6.2 y 3.3.6.3 of the Spanish UserGuide manual, ("Ayuda->Guía
del usuario") .


If the spanish package changes how enumerations are done, you can
reflect that on screen by changing es.po.

This behavior is explained in detail in the subsubsection*
"Enumeración* y Enumeración en español" included in sec 3.3.6 of that
manual
