copy and paste does not work well

hi there, i am using kubuntu dapper drake with lyx 1.4.2 my problem is: i can copy and paste in lyx documents - but when i select something in another application (firefox, thunderbird, kate, openoffice, etc.) and want to paste these words in my lyx document - it does not work. the other way

Or, if you don't have a middle mouse button, CTRL-SHIFT V. You'll see in the Edit menu that lyx distinguishes between pasting from lyx and pasting from external sources. Declan
