zoom in Lyx

2009-07-11 Thread M . Kocinski
Hello,
I would like to know, if there is a possibility of making zoom in view for
example 150%, 200% as in other editors such as Word? It is better for my
eyes to use zoom.
Can anyone help me?

Best regards,
Marek Kociński

If you have a wheel mouse, you can zoom with Ctrl+Mouse Wheel. As of LyX
1.6.3, you can also use Alt-+ and Alt-[minus].

I am not aware of any way of changing it on the fly, but you can set the
default zoom by going to Tools - Preferences - Screen Fonts. Adjust
the Zoom # and Screen DPI calculations.

I have a remark on the ctrl-mouse-wheel feature.

As I see the trends, scrolling up is for zooming in, and scrolling down for
zooming out. Since the release of Firefox 3 all the programs I know work this
way except now LyX 1.6. (Firefox also changed the directions to adjust it to
the common practice.)

So I would suggest to invert the zoom in and out. I wonder if others consider
this issue the same way.

Cheers, Máté

Zoom in LyX (like in firefox)

2008-07-15 Thread Aleksandar Kanchev

Hello list,

is there a way to zoom in what I'm typing in LyX, i.e. I need to make
the font in LyX bigger, but this should not affect the compiled output.
Something like holding down the ctrl-key and using the mouse wheel in
firefox. I'm sometimes working on a big monitor with big resolution and
it'll be very nice to be able to quickly zoom in and out just like in
firefox.

best regards,
Aleksandar Kanchev

Hi,

Go to
tools preferences look and feel screen fonts zoom % (default 150%)

This is what happens when we have glasses. I wish LyX would have a specified
button for it.

LyX-1.6 will have the ctrl-mouse-wheel feature, just like Fierefox. I
used all the time, very useful!

Zoom in LyX (like in firefox)

2008-07-15 Thread Aleksandar Kanchev

Hello list,

is there a way to zoom in what I'm typing in LyX, i.e. I need to make
the font in LyX bigger, but this should not affect the compiled output.
Something like holding down the ctrl-key and using the mouse wheel in
firefox. I'm sometimes working on a big monitor with big resolution and
it'll be very nice to be able to quickly zoom in and out just like in
firefox.

best regards,
Aleksandar Kanchev

Hi,

Go to
tools preferences look and feel screen fonts zoom % (default 150%)

This is what happens when we have glasses. I wish LyX would have a specified
button for it.

Cheers,

Erez

LyX-1.6 will have the ctrl-mouse-wheel feature, just like Fierefox. I
used all the time, very useful!

You can try the latest beta if you don't believe me :-)

Thanks for the quick responses.
I believe you Abdel, but I can't find a Fedora 9 RPM for LyX 1.6.0 or at
least a binary. I really don't want to compile it from scratch.

1.6.0 will be available as an update for F9 as soon as it released. :-)

I will upgrade it soon to beta 4 in rawhide (the development version of F10).

I just installed 1.5.2 and am having horrible font problems. I
understand that there's a new pixmap cache scheme, but it seems to be
broken when you change the Zoom on Screen fonts. It adjusts the spacing
appopriately, but not actual characters. So, when you increase the zoom,
you still have small characters but they're spaced far apart.
Conversely, when you decrease the zoom, the characters are on top on one
another.

I created a brand new preferences file and folder and this didn't solve
the problem.

On the other hand, when you quit the program and start it up, it's ok.
But currently you can never change the zoom and expect it to behave
properly without restarting.

This bug will be fixed in 1.5.3. FYI, it was not just about the pixmap
cache but also the font metrics cache.
