I had a direct connect modem cable. The "shorting plug was attached to the cord so that you wouldn;t lose it. You could call a bbs with your phone, then when you heard the carrier, press Term (F4). You could hang up the phone or not, as it was disconnected anyway. I stupidly threw it out when that
