On my screen I can move to 'yes' and 'no', with VO and the arrow
keys. There is obviously a message requiring a response, but I don't
know how to get to it. Can I read the screen somehow from top to
bottom, including everything?

You should be able to just vo left and right through the whole dialogue. It
should have what ever the message is included in it. if not try using the item
chooser to see if it shows anything else. You can invoke this with vo plus I.

Hi there actually it's the best way at least I can beat the chess
program on the mac book it's so accessible though.
some one did a podcast on it but they never knew they could type out
the moves on the keyboard.
