Xls Files should be able to be opened in preview with no issue… I have had
great luck with PDF files using this application which I was not honestly

I believe, that if I'm correct, that when safemode is enabled, OS 10 only uses
what it needs to boot up, and does not boot up any sound drivers or anything
like that.
