Hello. Use the migrate assistant to migrate just the apps and copy if you need
to the prefs from all of the apps you use in to a folder that way you don't
need to enter any keys or anything like that.
As for mail I would just start over as the data base needs to be upgraded
anyways.

My mac mini is showing signs of software age. I am considering upgrading to
Mountain Lion from Lion and taking the opportunity to wipe the disk clean.
1. Is the upgrade worth the option - not just for voice over as others use the
computer.
2. I am happy that all my data is backed up
