I have been using time machine to back up my mac. I have recently heard that
you can create entire clone of your hard drive with a program called super
dooper, which would allow you to boot from your external if there were to be a
problem with your internal hard drive. also
You can also use carbon copy cloner for this as well. I use both just in car
done drive bites the dust. it will even restore your recovery drive. as well.

have to pay. I use carbon copy cloner as it does essentially the same thing.
