When I first got my very first Mac way back in early 2005, i promised myself I would get to grips with the technical side of the thing. I also promised myself I would learn the CLI. I have, so far, failed to live up to that second promise that I made myself. I intend to address that inadequacy. I know of a couple of publications which deal with using the bash interface, so I’m going to go and get those, even if I have to buy them over again. I need to make myself more abled to deal with these issues so that I can at least work with developers where procedures and processes haven’t as yet been implemented into the Finder or the GUI. So thus begins my quest for knowledge. To delet a file cd to the directory you want to be in and type rm -rf then the file name. or I think it's rm -f for a directory. I started learning the terminal in 2010 but that's because the person teaching me did not know the gui. lol! Hth. how do I get rid of Compact mail boxes?
I just set up two Gmail accounts on a Macbook pro running Yosemite. Since one is my work account, I would like those messages to be separate from my home account. Right now, it’s putting the messages for both accounts in one Inbox. I went into Preferences, Accounts, Advanced. The checkbox to use Compact mail boxes is checked. Since VoiceOver says it’s dimmed, I can’t uncheck it. What can I do? Thanks. Actually all you need to is just expand the mail box folder and arrow to the mail box you want. they are separate but what you are actually seeing is a all mail boxes section. Thank you. I went up to the top of the mail boxes list and sure enough it said it was collapsed. After I expanded it with VoBackslash I see the separate mail boxes. Security preferences and FileVault
I downloaded OS 10 today. After taking a while, it seemsto have downloaded. I am now at home, and have noticed that security preferences have been sent to FileVault and they are encrypting all files. Also noticing it's going to require a key and security code to get two files? Can anyone explain to me what is going on with this? I do not choose, to have to access the folders or files on my Mac, by having to put in security codes and keys. Is this permanent? Can it be undone? Does anyone have any explanation on what it is doing?
