Subject: [Mac-access]: Combo boxes in Facebook

Hello,
I am running Mac OS 10.10.3 beta 2 on my iMac.

I am trying to use Safari to update my Facebook profile to add some extra
work places. I can get to a combo box titled where did you work?” but
when I enter the company name it gets rejected as an invalid employer. If
I press the up and down arrows on the combo box I see a list of companies
which look like companies which my Facebook friends work at. I suspect
these are the only acceptable companies.

I recall that in Windows combo boxes let you either select from a list of
existing options for that box or to enter a completely new option.
Depending on which screen reader I used I had to press say Alt+Enter to
enable me to enter a completely new item in the combo box. How do I do
this using VoiceOver?

Many thanks for any tips on how to add extra work places to a Facebook
profile.

2015-03-20 Thread Christopher-Mark Gilland

Actually,

I've been doing the user agent trick now for so long, I don't even remember
when I started doing it with Facebook. It's been minimum at least! since
2010, as I remember my uncle having a Snow Leopard machine at that time,
before I even got my first mac, and I remember playing around the one night
I was at his place on his IMac with the Facebook mobile site, and I remember
having to do that then.

are their any ios users of the inovative language application?

for some reason, voiceover only shows me about six popular languages; how do
I get dutch korean etc. to show up for me to select?

thought this would have been addressed since the app has been out a while.

i want to learn dutch, yet i can't select this language under ios 8.2 on an
 iphone 5s.

 thanks to all,

 Will

[Mac-access]: Amazon prime movies on the Mac

2015-03-20 Thread william lomas
Hello all, has anyone else got an Amazon prime movies to play on the Mac? The
only downfall I find me the Macintosh, is that flash never seems to be
accessible.
If it is flash, and I can't get to the button to start the movie, how can I
resolve this?
Regards, William

[Mac-access]: Voiceover and braille tables question

2015-03-20 Thread Laurel
I know this is sort of random, but I'm wondering. Do any of you happen
to know how Apple's braille tables that are used with Voiceover are
written? I'm trying to research this a bit for a project I am working
on, but I am struggling to find good resources. Is Apple basing their
braille tables off of a framework, something like Duxberry Braille and
that's how they are getting their braille tables? Or are they using a
particular computer coding language to write their tables? If someone
could point me in the write direction for me to learn a bit more than
I already know, I would appreciate it. For what it's worth, I do know
how to write a braille translation table, I've done it for several
braille codes in several different languages, so I am somewhat
familiar with how they can be built or written. I just am wanting to
try and learn a bit more if I can about how Apple built theirs, or
what framework Apple is using.
Thanks for any information anyone might have,
Laurel

Re: [Mac-access]: Voiceover and braille tables question

2015-03-20 Thread Ben J. Bloomgren

Laurel,

I hear that Apple uses LibLouis, but I don't know the particulars. I've done
a makeshift braille table for JFW using that screenreader's .jbt file
system, but that's pretty jerry-rigged in my opinion. I was hoping that you
would know...

How do you write Braille tables your way?
