[Mac-access]: Problems with touchID on iPhone 5S
Hello, I have an iPhone 5S which is about 6 months old and which is currently running IOS 8.3. TouchID worked well for the first 4 months or so, but alas is now unreliable. If I register a new fingerprint it works fine for about 2 days and then the finger print is no longer recognised. Do any listers have tips on the best way to position fingers or thumbs during the initial fingerprint registration or any other tips on how to make touchID reliable. I have tried cleaning the home button with a dry cloth and also tried registering the same finger several times as if they were all different fingers. Would it help to clean the home button in some other way? Many thanks for any tips. TouchID is great while it works! Do any other listers have problems with TouchID on iPhone 5S? Is TouchID on iPhone 6 reliable? Best regards…. Hello, My touch ID is kind of finicky, and I have a 5S running on iOS 8.3 as well. However, it was finicky before I upgraded. Sometimes I have to try three or four times before it registers. I have these electronic wipes, though. The packets come with one wet cloth and one dry cloth. And ever since I got those, I don't have as much trouble unless my fingers are cold or I've only recently washed and dried them. You can see an example of these cloths are http://www.amazon.com/Advantus-Kleen-Screen-Cleaner-REARR1205/dp/B0017D3O20/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8qid=1429033646sr=8-1keywords=electronic+wet+and+dry+wipes . [Mac-access]: Airdroid
Hi! I won’t take too much time on this as I don’t want to be accused of taking the list into an area which could easily get into an off topic discussion. One of the things I really like about my Mac Mini and my iPhone is the continuity between them for Messages, Phone Calls etc. If you have a Mac and an Android device then - by using the Airdroid App - on your Mac with your Android device you have very much that same continuity between your Mac and your Android Device. Now I cheated here a little, I used the universal web Interface for Airdroid to allow the controlling and accessing of my Samsung Note4 however I’m very pleased to say that the Web Interface is very accessible with Safari for the Mac so the web page alone is a damn good start. As I say, I’m writing this for reference more than anything else and if anyone has further questions about Airdroid and Android then its probably a good idea to get in touch with me privately rather than put the rest of the list to absolute misery smile. --- Mac Access At Mac Access Dot Net --- To reply to this post, please address your message to mac-access@mac-access.net You can find an archive of all messages postedto the Mac-Access forum at the list's public Mail Archive: http://www.mail-archive.com/mac-access@mac-access.net/. [Mac-access]: IOS BT keyboards was re:: Iphone 5 or 4S
I have the Amazon Basics keyboard, and an Apple bluetooth keyboard. Here are advantages of each. Amazon Keyboard : less expensive; on/off switch separate button for pairing; smaller than Apple keyboard, so keys are smaller and there is not a vertical T for arrow keys; Most of the keys are the same size; Up/down arrow keys are sandwiched between left/right arrow keys; Uses AAA batteries; Made of plastic; Apple bluetooth keyboard Aluminum; Nice spacing between keys Inverted T for arrow keys Good responsiveness Difficult to know when keyboard is turned off, after using; Toggle button to turn keyboard on/off is flush with one end of the back of keyboard. It has to be pushed in for several seconds, to toggle on/off. There is no tactile/audio feedback to know when this status changes. Tapping a key will let you know if it is still on, but I have had times when I thought it was off, then try to use the virtual keyboard from another room, and it won't come up because the BT keyboard is still on. The Amazon keyboard has a slide switch on the bottom, abd ut us easy to know if it is on or off. Both keyboards have a key to turn the virtual keyboard on and off, in case you want to use both of them. The batteries last a long time in each, and are easily replaced. Both keyboards have the apostrophe/double quote key to the right of the simicolon/colon key. Each have function, control, option, command keys, in that order to the left of the space bar. To the right are the command and option keys. I prefer typing on the Apple keyboard, because of its responsivemess, but it probably isn't worth the difference in price. Regarding the phone choice, I would suggest that you get a 5s, rather than a 5. It is a 64-bit phone with the touch ID feature, a faster processor, and will support future versions of IOS longer than an iPhone 5. [Mac-access]: IOS 8.3: double and triple characters using BT keyboards
Since upgrading to IOS 8.3, I have been having even more trouble with bluetooth keyboards typing double and even triple letters. Unpairing and re-pairing the keyboard does not fix the problem. Only rebooting the phone fixes it, temporarily. This has happened 3 times today, and several times during each of the previous days. I called Apple Access about this yesterday, and they set up a case, saying that engineering is tracking how many are having this issue. It happened on occasion since IOS 8 release, but not as much as it is now. It can start in the midst of writing an email, or when left paired for several hours without being used. Are others experiencing this problem? Actually I'm having this issuew with the latest of ios 8.3. It will work for like 2 days then stop and i have to re-add my finger. I did not have this issue with ios 8.2. Take care.
