should not blow them at all. Well I can confirm that I have my speakers
all the way up and have been since acquiring my iPhone 4 8 Gb

I have an iPhone 4S 64GB and have had it for about 11 months. For some reason,
I was using it today, and all of a sudden I lost all sound from the built in
speaker. I tried the volume buttons, I tried resetting the iPhone (both hard
and soft reset), restoring the iPhone via iTunes,
Hi lewis it sounds like the same thing that happened to mine. It may mean you
need a replacement phone and the apple store might be your only option unless
anyone else has a better idea.

Another possibility to try before deciding whether you need a replacement: I
believe that Geoff Waaler had an instance where his iPhone 3GS would not play
through the speaker, and after doing some research on the web, he determined
that sometimes dust lodging in the input jack area

I've ordered another iPhone.
Should get it during next week, and I think I'm going to try lowering the
volume of VoiceOver to try and eliminate any problems with the speaker, as I
think the main reason why it went in the first place was because

My daughters have there phones up full all the time and never have issues with
the speaker. My gut says that the volume isn't the cause of this.

I know that there was a thing where if the jack thought it had the plug in it
would not go to speaker. I have this issue once and did what one f the posters
suggested, and ion my case, it worked, how ever maybe something else is broken.
