I'm running panther.
X11 resides in my applications folder. It seems to open when I double
click it but, as far as I can tell, nothing happens. I don't remember why
I have this app or what it does.
Why do I have this application on my hard drive, what does it do, and
should I upgrade it?
That's the problem. The version I have (.3) doesn't open in Panther.
Before I upgrade it, I want to know why I need it.
Thanks.

I have widgets in my application folder and they do not work with
Panther. I believe the widgets are dependent on an umbrella application
which I cannot find.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks.

Check your Utilities folder and see if you have a newer version of X11
sitting in there.
Panther should have given you the new version (and yes you can delete
the old one).
Here is some info about X11

All I know is I've got widgets coming out the ying yang in 59 trillion

I have been testing Aki since it came out (again) for Panther. It seems

I did a search on my hard drive and there are tons of X11 support files
but only the aforementioned version of X11. Apple's site says X11 is on
Disk #3 of Panther. So I will put it on.
Thanks.

Sounds like Konfabulator, I have several of them open at all times on the
desktop, a great help. I had a screen saver that I just loved, but one of
the Widgets was to calculate the processor activity and WOW, this screen
saver was taking 90% usage. I wouldn't have known.

That would be the wonderful utility Konfabulator you're thinking about.
It's safe to delete them if you don't think you'll use it again. I recommend
downloading it, but hey, that's just me! ;)
