So if I am reading this right in the same enclosure the original drive
is recognized but the new drive isn't.
Also both have the same jumpers Cable Select
My first thought is that the drive that is not being recognized the
cable is not fully in the plug.

The connector probably isn't loose, though.
Switching back to the old drive (twice) shows as being
recognized by the FireWire selection of System Proviler.
I tried re-seating the power connector of the new drive
several times, but had no recognition or spin-up.
