Re: [MacGroup] Mac repair

2014-05-13 Thread Dan Crutcher
Yes, and it’s not there any more. As far as I know, the only places that can
repair Macs are the Apple Store and MacAuthority on Breckenridge Lane.

 Hey Group --

There used to be a Mac repair shop behind Mall St. Matthews in the industrial
park. It had a short name and I took a MacBook there many years ago. I was
sent there by a genius at the Apple store. They did a good job at a fair
price and I was hoping to take this one to them but I can't find them online.
Anyone know the shop I'm referring to and if they are still around?

 Thanks,

 Sandy

Access Technologies on Bardstown Road near Taylorsville Rd. will work on them,
and Geeks Underground on Preston near U of L replaced the keyboard and screen
on my Macbook Pro after an unhappy mishap about a year ago, with good results
(mostly - the keyboard is from a different model year so it doesn't map exactly
but issues have been minimal).

Eric --

Do you (or anyone else) have experience with Access Technologies? They are very
close to my house (I could walk) and I would go there if they have a good
reputation for working on Macs.

Thanks,

Sandy

I went to them when I needed to recover the contents of a hard drive from a G5
with a failed power supply, and they had cabling on hand that let me connect
the drive to my laptop and copy it off to there. Call them at 485-9600 and ask
for Dan, he's easy to talk to and he should be able to assess your situation
without too much trouble.

Re: [MacGroup] Mac repair

2014-05-13 Thread Sandy Price
I've since determined that the battery in my macbookpro 2008 is removeable, so
I've ordered a new one. I will remember if I do need service in the future (or
if the overheating battery is not the problem here) I will give them a call.
Thanks again!
