Thanks for the advice, I have settled on Beaglebone Black rev C, CRAMPS 2.2 and Debian Jessie. I have loaded Stretch and it works though I have found no substantial benefit and think it might be more bloated and slower than Jessie, though I have not done any extensive testing to prove this. Charles pointed out that I meant HDMI not HTML, a brainf*** on my part but I haven't decided which way to go though I am leaning towards a remote interface.
