You have to set the NIC MAC address etc and then restart

I finally got the USB console working under stretch. 
I didn't have the dtb file that it was looking

[Machinekit] Re: machinekit stretch error help

Installed xauth, had to install some lib's first but did get it installed..
But have a new problem

I get the first screen to load the machinekit configuration selector 
but the screen is blank. has the ok cancel buttons but not usable 
and shows none of the different config files like ARM exc exc just a blank 
choose config screen that i cant exit out of. and don't know how to find 
the error
i am not getting any error messages just sits at blank screen forever 
I control c twice in putty terminal and it will exit back to the putty term 
prompt
but get no error there also..
Tried on windows and Linux with putty same problem

sudo apt-get install xauth
touch ~/.Xauthority
solved the problem
