ways to get FTP servers to mount as volumes on OS X, but I can't find
it now -- can anyone point me at the right tool?

Hmm. That wasn't it, that's the funny thing. Although it works of
course! How weird I never knew I could do that...
Hmmm... apropos ftp lists a mount_ftp
