Actually gimp-app, not inkscape, is failing. It hasn't gotten to trying to
build inkscape yet.

Hello,
I just tried to install Inkscape through MacPorts but it fails, here
is the output http://paste.lisp.org/display/95576
Any thoughts on how to get this fixed.
Thanks

I've copied a set of the default files into a working directory for reference,
but using the sudo cp command as suggested returns:
Password:
usage: cp [-R [-H | -L | -P]] [-fi | -n] [-apvX] source_file target_file
cp [-R [-H | -L | -P]] [-fi | -n] [-apvX] source_file ...

I think you're right about an OpenDarwin install years ago - completely
forgotten. Your suggestion certainly looks like the solution, except that I
can't find a way to change the read-only permissions to allow editing. Using mv
to replace old with newly-edited files fails because of the same pro
When I try to install the newest version, either with the install package or
via tarball, the config files remain unchanged. I can't edit or replace them
because the permissions can't be changed.

Firewall is off, and the FAQ doesn't help much because the files I need to edit
or replace are read-only and changing permissions is not allowed.
Thanks

Is that installed by a port (what port?) or manually?

I'm trying to run dreampie, a new Python shell, on Snow Leopard, using
Python 2.6. I'm using Gtk 2.18.7_0.
When I start dreampie, it prints:
GError: Couldn't recognize the image file format for file
'/opt/local/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.6/share/pixmaps/dreampie.png'
The fix

MacPorts used to be hosted on OpenDarwin years ago, but OpenDarwin and that
server no longer exist, so you can't connect to it. I suspect you installed

This is a DNS error. And, in fact:
mress:21033 Z$ host rsync.opendarwin.org
Host rsync.opendarwin.org not found: 3(NXDOMAIN)
(I'm also dubious about
Is the rsync port being blocked by your firewall?
If a blocked port is, in fact the problem, either 1) get it opened up, or 2)
