This type of error has come up several times on the mailing list and/or in the
issue tracker. I think you just need to clean it.

Sorry to get back to this late - I was travelling. I also installed
py27-numeric first as well, but it got me when I installed py27-reportlab.
Any suggestions on a good work-around for this issue?

I am trying today. I installed macports, and when I ran:
Sudo port install recoll
I get an error:

If I type:
sudo port install selfupdate I get an error, first my computer says:

There are three gdk-pixbuf2 (@2.22.0_0, @2.22.1_0, and @2.22.1_1) all
of which cannot be uninstalled because of the directory not empty

Error: Synchronization of the local ports tree
The problem should be worked around now, so just selfupdate and you
should be fine.
