Thanks. I have rerun the installer and run upgrade outdated and it is not
complaining about the user. So, perhaps the installation is sane now.

I copied macports files from a hard drive onto a new mac. It’s been a while but
I think I just copied /opt/local.
I can install new ports but it complains that there is no macuser. If I should
just create the user, can you tell me what attributes/properties (or whatever
the term is) the

It looks like it attempts to upgrade all outdated ports, regardless of
what port I specify. In any case, I see it attempts to upgrade ports
that are not dependents of the port that I specify.

I think it would be nice if there was more than a token describing port
variants. For example, when I see the server variant of mysql5, I
don't know if that means some sort of bare-bones version, or if it means
that it's configured to start automatically. I gather it's the later,
but it would
I use -R when upgrading something with dependents, because I think it is
going to upgrade or recompile/relink the packages that depend on what
I'm upgrading. But, I think it just upgrades all of my outdated ports,
is that right?
For example I used sudo port upgrade -R python24 and it upgraded

I think that is why I installed openmotif last time I did this and
thought openmotif was more complete than lesstif. I found that
strange since SuSE and Fedora use lesstif.
FWIW Openmotif is real motif, which used to be non-free. Lesstif is a
free motif-like

Hi folks,
I am still struggling with Leopard woes with emacs.
I was able to get emacs, emacs-devel, and emacs-app all made by
manually applying the patch provided in ticket #13294. emacs made in
the wrong directory while emacs-devel did better and ended up properly

Strange thing is the only mention of such a problem is with the

I've found this patch that seems to solve the problem if I build from

I used port -R upgrade sqlite3, to upgrade from 3.5.1_0 to 3.5.2_0,
and it says at the end:

Error: Deactivating sqlite3 3.5.1_0 failed: Active version of sqlite3
is not 3.5.1_0 but 3.5.2_0.
Isn't that a bug?
I then used port -f uninstall sqlite3 @3.5.1_0

I had this same problem. I don't have a /usr/local/from old Mac

I thought I'd check again. Does anyone know what this problem is, or how

Synchronizing from rsync://rsync.darwinports.org/dpupdate/dports
a `sudo port clean MailtoMutt` and selfupdating again. See if
