I've been taking a poke at ext/json for the last few days attempting
to get JSON support working again. I've got it compiling but have run
into an issue with memory management and the garbage collector that
I've been unable to get past.

We are almost there, Etc, Zlib and Socket are still missing.
Last I heard, Laurent had a "plan" for Zlib, knowing him, it's probably a
great and efficient idea.
Make sure to check with him before starting on that. (running some
benchmarks on zliby wouldn't hurt anyone)
