terminal driving me crazy

Hi list, Something is really wrong with terminal. It just acts completely randomly when i type in legitimate commands. Sometimes it accepts my directory queries, sometimes it just stays in the same directory even though i made the right command, no syntax error or anything. This is really bugg

To answer my own question with the assistance of an off list note from Alex Jurgensen I can answer part of my own question. When launching the dictionary, focus is in a tool bar which VO automatically interacts with, hence the first step is to stop that interaction which renders the 22 availab
