Learning the mac sure is a big learning curve. Simple tasks you knew how to do
under windows suddenly become tricky until you know the correct keystrokes.
Ultimately however, once you've mastered the basics of what you want to know,
you'll pick up on things much faster and everything will make

I don't know if there is a VoiceOver preference. I know in Text Edit, there
is a check box if you go to the Edit menu and look at the substitutions submenu
to enable or disable them. However, I am not aware of a system wide option or
a VO option.
