How is Applebooks for reading text and listening to audio books? I’ve just
installed Catalina and am exploring Apple Books. It has many selections I am
interested in, both books and audio, but before I buy anything I thought I’d
ask about its accessibility. I’ve used Kindle for IOS, but,
Easier? Maybe? I have used the app many times and it has never
failed. Matter of fact I retrieved the latest package from the app store
when 10.15.2 was released and I just created a new USB installer with it
using the app. And it shows up in startup. So I do not think the

Hi greg,
If the USb flash drive doesn't have a bootable package on it
Then no you wont see it in start up disks as there is nothing on the USB device
to start up from.
If you have the bootable Catalina installer the full package then it would be
easier by far to create the installation media
So long as vo is running there should be no issues setting it up or using it.

Morning all mac visionaries.
I thought some folks might be interested in the section of this article re the
tools for replacing iTunes.
It might be useful with the questions I’ve seen recently on the sorting / /
looking after media on or within the new Catalina os.
Thanks, And I also think I have to try and slow down. I was so used to just
opening a new email and swiping up with two fingers almost as one movement and
getting the result I want. The same thing happens when I get a new email and I
unlock the phone and find the mail app in the Doc and double
Hi, Are you by chance able to boot into recovery? If so, you will want to
enable the ability to boot from external usb drives. I am running into the
same similar problem whare booting into recovery does not work.

I would suggest tapping in the middle of the screen and then doing your two
finger swipe up. This should work.

Hmmm, could be. I think mine are USB 3. I've never had trouble with
them and have been using the same ones for probably 3-4 years.

Hi all,
Over all I’ve not had any of the issues with iOS 13 than a lot of other people
have had. However I’ve not been very happy with the mail app since the release
of 13 and I’m not sure if it’s a bug or if they designed it that way. I used to

Hello,
Well I downloaded install disk creator and it does have a much better interface
than disk maker X. When I used it, it appeared to have worked. However when I
go into system preferences/startup disk the flash drive is not listed. No
matter what I do I cannot get this to work. I have a new

I solved the problem by selecting the music app,
Pressing VO+Shift+M.
Then hold down the option key while pressing Enter.
Then I was able to choose the iTunes.itl file from my Mojave backup.
So now my Playlists are now in the music app.
Thanks,

Hi Greg,
I’m not familiar with the utility you are trying to use, however the link to
the article below may provide a useful alternative.
Keep in mind, that you will need to be using a USB flash-drive of at least 16
GB in order to create a bootable Catalina installer.
I would suggest this app, Install Disk Creator insteaa of DiskMaker
X. I had trouble with that one so threw it out. Also, you need at least
a 16gig stick.

Hi,
Just to clarify. When installing from the Internet Recovery option
(cmd-option-r), yes, it would revert back to your original stock installation
version such as 10.8 Mountain Lion. Whereas if you use the local Recovery
option (cmd-r), it will download and install the latest version of
Hello all,
I have been trying for the last several days to create a bootable USB drive so
I can do a clean install on my mac. I am using a 2015 MacBook air that I bought
in 2016. It is running the latest version of Catalina. I am using a program
called Disk Maker X to create the USB drive. I
Yes, your original email said you are running High Sierra on your MacBook Air.
You should have no accessibility issues with the installation process. I have
done this procedure many times, and it is all very VoiceOver accessible.
BTW - installation of the OS using the Recovery menu (CMD + R),
Thanks Brad, that’s very helpful because I am running high sierra. Sounds
pretty straightforward, are there any glitches I might encounter like silent
screens and places where VO isn’t talking but I have to enter something and so
forth?
