Hi, No, locking your Mac brings up the Login screen, but does not actually log you out. In time, it will likely go to sleep according to its regular schedule though. By locking your Mac, the apps and windows that are open remain ready for you once you unlock it. It’s a much faster response

A warning that the Mac will shut down in 60 seconds, and then these seconds counting down, is standard behavior when selecting Shut Down, from the Apple Menu. Not sure why there was a hang-up and the Mac did not proceed with the shut down. Perhaps there was a ongoing process that prevented
