I have tried using CTRL + Delete on both my 2018 Mac mini, and my 2019 MacBook Pro 13, and have not been able to get this key-command to initiate a shut down on either machine. I am able to use CTRL + Eject, on my 2018 Mac mini, with an Apple wired USB keyboard, to bring up a shut down

Hi, No, locking your Mac brings up the Login screen, but does not actually log you out. In time, it will likely go to sleep according to its regular schedule though. By locking your Mac, the apps and windows that are open remain ready for you once you unlock it. It’s a much faster response

thanks to eerybody who helped me with my Mac. I left it off overnight and turned it on when I woke up. it's behaving normally now. it's good to have alternatives to the usualy shut-down proceedure because I was having trouble with that. it would give me menu extras but not the menu bar. > On
