trying to clean install catalina on 2012 mac book pro please help.

Hi everyone hope you're doing well and staying safe. I have a 2012 MacBook Pro 8gb ram 1tb hd 2.9gb i7 dule core processer. I have an application file of the Catalina installer, I want to clean install Catalina on this Mac. When I open the application file absolutely nothing happeneds.
