Because of the way browsers work, having a single thread per a tab, moving
from an M1 to an M2 will probably not change your performance issues there. Of
course there are many types of web site designs, from static to very dynamic.
Some sites use HTML5 canvas and JAVASCRIPT to present a
"Not Responding" replaces "Busy" we so loved in previous versions. I
would like that changed as "busy" was more accurate.

16gigsand 1tb drive is minimum for me. You say you are not happy
with the 2020 model already. Short on resources? Perhaps a local Apple
store can upgrade it for you?

Since the RAM is not upgradable, go with as much as you can afford.
My recommendation is to go with 16 GB, and future-proof your purchase.
Same recommendation for the SSD storage, which is also not upgradable.
I recommend a minimum of 512 GB SSD, and go with 1 TB if you can afford it.
