I’ve never found it necessary to do a clean install. I just do the regular update, and I’ve never had a problem, plus all my settings carry forward to the new version. - Brad - On Oct 31, 2021, at 20:30, 'Kristeen Hughes' via MacVisionaries wrote: I am using a Mac mini from 2019. I did not

There should have been no reason to purchase a mouse from Apple. Any mouse will do. I have several around the house. I just used one that was in my desk. It was no big deal once I figured out what I needed to do. - Brad - On Oct 31, 2021, at 14:34, matthew dyer wrote: Hi, I find this

Hi, I find this an accessibility regression. I went ahead and bought a mouse from apple and connected it to my Mac mini and then did the install. It was a pain. I feel that having a mouse just to get things going is a regression in my book. Matthew > On Oct 31, 2021, at 12:41 PM, Brad

By the way, this is not just an issue with macOS Monterey. The 24 inch M1 iMac I was setting up was running macOS Big Sur. Not sure when Apple began requiring that a mouse be connected when setting up or upgrading a Mac, but it was definitely before macOS Monterey. - Brad - On Oct 31, 2021, at

Any mouse or trackpad will work. It could be USB, Bluetooth or any thing else. Just so it connects to the Mac and is recognized by the Mac. Recently, when setting up a 24" M1 iMac, once I realize that I needed a mouse, I G grabbed a Logitech wireless mouse, with one of those little dongle

I had the same issue with the Big Sur install as well. As you said, there is no way around it, I have to keep a mouse around for that purpose. Once you get to the install screen you can disconnect it but yes, you will need to connect a mouse or track pad to continue. > On Oct 28, 2021, at 9:38

Yup, this has been the case for a while now, at least Big Sur. Connect or make available a trackpad or mouse in pairing mode, and the blocker will disappear. You can then proceed without. It’s a bloody nuisance, but fortunately I have a trackpad on hand. A new buyer of my Mac Mini didn’t,
