Sean, I particularly like the way you described how you use the voice.
It makes sense.
You see, in the Windows world when using another screenreader I was able to

Alex, Vicky, Victoria, Fre? Alex sounds high quality, but the rest sound
compact. Am I missing some voices? Can I make the others besides Alex high

Yes, you ca download extra high quality voices.
Go to voiceover utility with CTRL Option F8. Go to the speech tab with Command
3.
Now go to the voices tab, and move to where it says, voice name, default voice.
Press spacebar, and choose customize.

I prefer quality voices as I can't always hear what the compact voices are

I live in the UK and actually don't like Daniel very much. I only use Daniel
for Siri on my I phone and it has to be high quality. Otherwise I use samantha.

Dear all, I have been thinking of late about the difference between the two
different voices you get with Voiceover premium and compact so here are my
thoughts. I would love to know what you think yourself and if you want to add
to the discussion then by all means feel free to do so.
Note:
Norwegian Stine Compact is a light year + better than Stine Premium in all of
the aspects. Especially, more beautiful sound. Apple or Nuance kicked her out
and let the premium disaster in instead. In IOS 7.
I am told that it is possible to download the beautiful compact - compared to
premium
For me, I always go with the premium voices. They are much higher quality, and
I don't speed them up to a super fast rate.

Hi Daniel. For me when I use the Nuance voices, I use the premium
version of the Australian Karen voice. I love the way Nuance tweeked
her voice to sound more human with Vocalizer Expressive. I wish they
would do the same for the male Australian voice, Lee, or if since
Nuance is adding
